| Help Advertise ReefSMART! Help spread the word about ReefSMART! The more people that know about it, the bigger and better the event will be. We already have more hobbyist vendors lined up for this event than we have in the past (meaning more frags to go around), but we are always on the lookout for more hobbyists, businesses and sponsors to be involved in ReefSMART. Click the "Read More" link below to download our flyer and take it to your local fish stores. read more ... |

Presentations:
Aquascaping - Carmie Scarpitti
Carmie will lead a discussion on how your rockwork affects your tank, its inhabitants, and even its chemistry. Carmie is well known for her involvement on The Talking Reef podcast and message board. She has been in the saltwater hobby almost literally since it began in the early 1980s. Not only has she watched the hobby evolve, but she has stayed up to date (and ahead of most of us!) on research and technology.
Reef Chemistry - Matt Meadows
Matt will lead a discussion on reef chemistry, what all those parameters mean, and inexpensive DIY ways to keep them where they need to be. Matt has been keeping aquariums for over 20 years. He is known on the message boards for his creative DIY ideas. A cabinetmaker by day, he enjoys reading reef chemistry articles and reefkeeping message boards. Although he stays busy with school, work, and his family, Matt is always available to help out a friend in need.
Native Collecting - Joe Oliver
Joe will be leading a discussion on native species and which ones will thrive in your reef tank. Joe has an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and is working towards a Masters. He is employed by MarineQuest in Wilmington, NC. His many systems have included community, SA Cichlids, African Cichlids, SA Amazon, SE Asian, freshwater stream, breeding mollies, guppies, platys, freshwater angelfish, bettas, various local systems, inverts, predators, fish only, and many different reef systems.
